Thank you for the Paul Foot tribute - wonderful stuff.
Paul and I were great friends. He loved Corby, and was a great help in our battle to save the steel works. He liked nothing better than having a jar with the lads in our club talking steel.
I took him round the blast furnaces, steel-making plant, rolling mills. He said afterwards, 'Now I know what the hell it looks like. How do you do it?' I said it is easy when you know how!
I was on the executive of the steel workers' union and the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation. Keep up the good work on Socialist Review. We will get there in the end. I am a retired widower now and arthritis has caught up with me, so it's up to you guys now.
