Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) will be taking a delegation to Calais on 11-12 December to highlight the severe winter conditions refugees are living in and take over much-needed collections.
The group is asking people to collect cash at work, trade union branches or elsewhere and buy SUTR festive cards that they will take over to Calais with solidarity messages and collections for refugees.
Get involved with Stand Up to Racism
From police brutality to the scapegoating of migrants, from the growth of fascist parties in Europe to Islamophobia, we have seen a new racist offensive. Stand Up To Racism is a broad based organisation made up of anti-racists, students, trade unionists and faith groups. They are planning a number of activities and events in the next year aimed at challenging the rise of racism and fascism.
Unite Against Fascism conference
Saturday 6 February
Unite Against Fascism has played a leading role in driving back fascist organisations like the BNP and EDL in Britain. But there is no room for complacency. Across Europe racist and fascist parties are seizing on the refugee crisis as well as the climate of Islamophobia in mainstream politics. The UAF conference next year will incorporate workshops on the “Refugees Welcome Here” campaign. It is an important opportunity to discuss how best we organise alongside refugees and continue to challenge racist and fascist groups.
Stand Up to Racism demonstration
Saturday 19 March
Stand Up to Racism is calling a demonstration in London to mark UN Anti-Racism Day. The racist offensive against refugees pursued by the government and right wing press shows how crucial it is to stand in solidarity with migrants. After seeing thousands of people drown, Greek anti-racists have called a demonstration to coincide with London’s — and a number of other cities across Europe. 2016’s march will send a message that refugees are welcome in Europe, while also challenging the racism and Islamophobia we see today.
