This exhibition is of the life of Olaudah Equiano and his campaign to end British involvement in the slave trade.

It uses Equiano's 18th century autobiography, The Interesting Narrative, to tell his story from when he was first kidnapped from his West African village, to his writings and speeches which brought the horrors of the trade to the British people.

Sheffield Off the Shelf Literary Festival, 21 October

Radical playwright Trevor Griffiths talks about the life and revolutionary ideas of Tom Paine. Paine was a key player in both the French and American revolutions, and his writings, most notably The Rights of Man, have inspired generations. Griffiths himself wrote the screenplay to Warren Beatty's 1981 film Reds and Ken Loach's Fatherland.
